He found credit card numbers from purchases for sale online. On September 8, 2014, Confirmed that their payment systems were compromised. The company’s press release said a data breach affected customers who used credit or debit cards at any store from April to September 2014.  Offered affected customers a free, one-year credit monitoring service from All Clear ID.

Also in their news release, they made sure to point out that there was no evidence to indicate that online customers were exposed by the breach. On September 18, 2014,  Announced that the hackers had acquired a total of 56 million credit card numbers as a result of the breach.

Since the breach, has encrypted all its cash registers and self-checkouts to protect consumers. A class-action lawsuit was filed against the company.
